Attendee Permissions in a Teams Meeting

Created by Graham Halliday, Modified on Thu, 21 May 2020 at 02:27 PM by Graham Halliday

By default when you schedule a meeting in Teams, participants get the Presenter role, and as the creator you have the Organiser role. There is a third Attendee role with limited permissions.

You can change this for all attendees in advance, but only on scheduled meetings, not Meet now meetings.

To do this, once you have created the event in the calendar, reopen the event and click Meeting Options at the top.

A webpage will open and at the bottom you can change Who can present? to Only me.

Now when people join, they will join as an attendee with limited permissions.

You can see what each role does specifically here.

Once the meeting has started, you can switch the role of individual participants by hovering over their name in the participants list, clicking the 3 dots, and selecting Make a presenter or Make an attendee. This also works in Meet now meetings.
